The Week at a Glance

You can tell I’ve been busy because I’m in my default maxis.  In addition to working on a few audio books, I’ve been cleaning out my closet, finally getting some clarity concerning what I should keep available and what needs to be packed away for now.  I’ve rearranged my bags and hats, put away all my boots (sigh), and put aside a few pieces that need to be altered.

Our work/social calendar is filling up;  Joey’s got a number of shows on the horizon, including opening for George Benson on June 1st in Peachtree City, GA (near Atlanta).  Needless to say, it’s gonna be a fabulous evening!!  I’m definitely going to make something special to wear.

In the meantime, here’s a quick rundown of this week’s outfit details (clicking on the pictures will make them larger).

Picture 1) Forever 21 maxi dress, H&M shoes, ancient Nike hoodie, thrifted bag, hat from Joey’s previous album promotion.  Picture 2) Top from local boutique, thrifted and upcycled skirt, shoes and bag?  Picture 3) Hat and skirt (redesigned by me) H&M, cardigan TJ Maxx, bag consignment store.

Hope your week is going well!  Today, I’m just trying to keep it light and breezy.

You do the maxis so well! It is something that’s difficult for me…as my legs seem too long for those that fit on my torso! Love it that you have album caps to wear. You might think about “attending” the pajama party at Ragsagainstthemachine.com

Thank you for the reminder!! I’m coming right over to check it out.

I’m starting to feel I need more maxis!

Maybe, but with your gorgeous legs? Less might be more!

I am obsessed with that second skirt. How cool! I think a maxi like that would change my tune on wearing them. (I’m very short). Also Peachtree, GA – just a stones throw from where I grew up. Hope you enjoy the hot weather there.

Actually, I’m not a big fan of hot weather, go figure. I love that skirt too. The upcycle was interesting. I kept making mistakes and when I fixed them, I liked the results even more. Now it’s a staple.

I can’t help but imagine all the heads you must turn when you go out, especially to the plant nursery as shown in the last photo. You say “default maxis” like others would say sweatpants and a T. Always brilliant, Jean. It’ll be fun seeing what you come up with for Joey’s show!

Very elegant! I wish the photos were bigger so we can see more details :)

Jean, you’re one of those amazing people who manage to look fabulous even when running around like a headless chicken! The outfits all look great. I especially like the one with you in the fedora.

Your maxis are always a visual treat. I especially love the skirt in the second photo with the interesting folds and details. And can’t wait to see what you design for Joey’s June 1st show. I’m sure it will be a show stopper.

I can’t wait to see it as well. Right now, I don’t have a clue. The muses haven’t spoken yet!

You wear your maxis so well! The second one is my favorite…gorgeous!

    • Jean on April 22, 2012 at 10:51 am

I had fun making that one. Thanks so much!

In addition to managing to look both relaxed and stylish simultaneously, can’t help being entranced by your great smile too.

    • Jean on April 22, 2012 at 10:50 am

Thank you. At my age, a smile is an instant face-lift. It feels pretty good, too.

Joey is a trumpet player, jazz with R&B and pop influences. If you go to my About Me page and click on the “husband” link, you’ll be taken to his website. Going to a clothes swap with your daughter sounds like my idea of heaven!!! Enjoy.
