Somehow a rhythm for posting has been set up, one that I miss when there isn’t enough time.  Perhaps it’s anticipating the fun of joining Patti’s Visible Monday on Sunday evening.

Maybe it’s the pleasure of sharing a creative moment that I was able to carve out during the week.

Knowing I have a post to get out makes me focus on the fun stuff, like creating an outfit, as opposed to all the un-fun stuff that’s inevitably clamoring for attention.  Amber of Butane Anvil says something about taking a break from all that serious seriousness.  Amen.

It’s fun to share the Goodwill Gospel, as I like to call it.  Lynn Deveny, a.k.a The Goodwill Fan Girl, and Pam at             Over 50 Feeling 40 can attest to that.

I love being able to say thanks for fabulous ideas that I’ve gleaned from other bloggers.  Sheila of Ephemera turned me on to drapery rings as skirt clips, which she used on her iteration of the Yellow Skirt.  Absolutely brilliant and so very practical.

I tried to get a picture of the cowl-thingy I talked about in the last post.  Here’s a not-so-good pic; besides being dark, that behind-the-head crescent looks… odd?!   I love the names you suggested for it, like Vix‘s concho or Rosalind‘s ponch-owl.

So until next Sunday when I hopefully post again, have a wonderful, glorious, and creative week!  XXOO

Details: Skirt-made by me from fabric in my stash, sweater-thrifted and customized with a suede tie, boots and bracelets-Goodwill, cowlponcho in last pic-details here.  Click on the pictures once, and then again, for more detail.

Lastly:  Instagram is CRAZY!!  It’s like blogging at the speed of light.  I’m a fan.  If you can, come see me @drossintogold.

    Love your boots~xoxo

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:20 pm

I found you too. Perfect! Love the shot of the trees in winter.

You are gorgeous, Jean – your hair is a vision! And I love all the gracious blog-love you spread in this post. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xox.

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:21 pm

I think I mentioned the Deva products to you in a comment? They work!

  4. Amber of Butane Anvil on December 15, 2013 at 6:03 pm

Aww, dolly! Thank you for the link-back together with some of my other favourites. I am a huge fan of both of these looks, the all-neutral and colour-blocked with bright, I adore the lines with that long skirt and volume up top, and how you embody your uniqueness and talent while responding to all the lovely inspiration is marvellous! Love to you, xoxoxo

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:21 pm

      You’re the best. :-)

Hello fellow jazz lover! Jean, you are so unique with your attire and I love it! I just purchased a pair of leather heeled booties on ebay and I can’t wait to receive them :)

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:23 pm

I saw on a previous post of yours that you went to Spaghettini’s? Joey’s performed there. Next time he comes, we’ll have to connect.

  6. Pam@over50feeling40 on December 15, 2013 at 6:40 pm

You look so pretty, Jean! You have gorgeous hair! have a great week!

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:24 pm

Thank you Pam! You do the same. :-)

  7. Forest City Fashionista on December 15, 2013 at 7:17 pm

The curtain ring idea is a good one, and I may steal it from Sheila and you one of these days. I admire your ability to create sculptural shapes with your clothes.

Instagram is fun, isn’t it. It’s great for when I see something that isn’t worth a whole blog post, but I think is cool enough to share. Thanks for following mine.

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 7:26 pm

The curtain ring idea is genius. I love long skirts but they’re not always practical. Now I just hoist ’em up. So happy to see you (and Fred :-)) on Instagram.

  8. Sheila (of Ephemera) on December 15, 2013 at 7:52 pm

Love your iteration of the skirt clips – that’s so fun, how you have it rigged up. Thank you so much for the link – very sweet of you!

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 8:59 pm

Thank you for the great idea!!

  9. Aya in Couturgatory on December 15, 2013 at 8:22 pm

Wow, your skirt is gorgeous! I’ve always longed for a maxi skirt like that, but being short, the dimensions are always off. Clearly I should shop for fabric instead and maybe try making my own. 😀

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 9:01 pm

I love making my own clothes for exactly that reason: the dimensions. Mine, not someone else’s. Try it!! I’d love to see what you make.

  10. The Style Crone on December 15, 2013 at 11:18 pm

Actually, I think the photo of you in the cowl-thingy has an angelic feel, with the behind the head crescent as a halo. Along with your hair, of course.

The brown skirt is gorgeous, with its drapes and folds. What can’t be done with drapery rings! I’ve been using them to hang belts on a rack. Wish I could say that I made a skirt as fabulous as the one that you’re wearing today!

    • Jean on December 15, 2013 at 11:36 pm

More great ideas!! I love it! I’ll have to get some more rings and play.

  11. pao on December 16, 2013 at 12:16 am

Just love the rings as hooks and garters for your long skirts. hmmmm… And your hair sure does look lovely in rings too. I don’t even know what instagram is, but I think it probably has something to do with cell phones or the like. I don’t have one, nor do facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc., etc. My goodness, blogging is more than enough for me to handle as it is! I just wanna sew, ya know.

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 11:11 am

I do know!! I guess since I do have the phone capability , Instagram is actually easier than blogging, with many of the same rewards, so I have more time to sew!!! I chose not to participate in all the other stuff you mention. :-)

  12. Curtise on December 16, 2013 at 4:07 am

How elegant you look, Jean, with your mermaid waves and furry sweater and beautifully draped skirt. The textures and lines are gorgeous, and Sheila’s idea of using curtain ring as a skirt-hitcher works so well. Like Judith, I think the final photo is Jean as Christmas Angel! xxxx

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 11:13 am

Hmm…Jean as angel? No, but perhaps I could play one on TV.

  13. Sharon S My Style on December 16, 2013 at 5:36 am

Hi there! You always look so chic and unique, you look lovely in these photos! xxx

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 11:14 am

Thanks Sharon! I appreciate the compliment. XXOO

  14. sandra on December 16, 2013 at 7:37 am

the concho/ponch-owl looks fabulous, and I love your hitched up skirt ideas, you look so beautiful in your outfit – I’m such a tech dinosaur, I don’t even have facebook, but I will look up Instagram x x x

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 11:16 am

Nah, Facebook is not for me either. I barely have enough time for the rest of my life!

  15. Vix on December 16, 2013 at 10:55 am

Your concho-ponch owl is even better on, I think I need on in my life! Your hair just gets better and better, I love it (and you)
I had a new secondhand phone for my birthday that might do Instagram, my 13 year old friend has offered to show me how! xxx

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 11:19 am

I had to be shown by my 30-something daughter in law. The 13 yr old will undoubtedly know ALL the tricks. I’ll bet you can make a version of the concho-ponch owl out of fabulous vintage fabrics!!! Maybe we can trade. :-) XXOO

  16. PinkCheetahVintage on December 16, 2013 at 2:45 pm

I love IG, too! I feel like I get a little bit more real time connection with people vs. blogging… Which sometimes feels more time consuming or formal or something. I’m not very articulate right now! o_O

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 2:55 pm

I think you said it perfectly. Where do I find you? Xo

  17. Jan Graham-McMillen on December 16, 2013 at 5:40 pm

Actually, I kind of like the shape behind your head … it gave an Art-deco hat effect. Gee … you could use it for Hat Attack! Didn’t detract from your beautiful outfit. Love the color blocking on your lovely lenght! Sleek and completely unique as always. What a beauty you are, Jean!

    • Jean on December 16, 2013 at 6:02 pm

Great idea for Hat Attack!! Thanks. :-)

  19. Val Sparkle on December 16, 2013 at 11:29 pm

You look gorgeous with your curly hair and drapey fabrics! And the boots are hot!

I know what you mean about the excitement of getting ready for Visible Monday, and yet I am not even close to having a post ready this week. There’s just too much to do, but at least I can still look at everyone else’s posts!

    • Jean on December 17, 2013 at 12:32 am

I know what you mean about time. I rarely have enough of it and I miss some great posts!

  20. Megan Mae on December 17, 2013 at 6:30 pm

What a beautifully fantastic look. The poncho result is fantastic!!

Also I’m very much in love with your curls.

Sounds like you have a blog-world-wide inspiration going on. It always makes me happy to see it!

    • Jean on December 18, 2013 at 12:42 am

I’m in awe of what’s possible. The connections are miraculous. Just think, I met you!! I’m loving it.

  21. Joni on December 18, 2013 at 10:03 am

Oh My! LOOOOOOVE your hair Jean. Can you send it to me? Or at least a clone head that I can take to my plastic surgeon? 😉 You look lovely. I truly hope you have a splendid holiday. 😉

    • Jean on December 18, 2013 at 10:07 am

I’m so happy to hear from you!! I’ve been wearing the calligram apron non-stop. Best gift I ever bought for Joey. :-)

  22. Emalina on December 21, 2013 at 4:24 pm

You’re so beautiful with your hair like that! The silvery top is exquisite, and you’ve made that skirt even lovelier with the drapery rings. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  23. Feda on December 30, 2013 at 10:10 am

You are soooo talented Jean! I can’t believe you made that skirt with all the side details! I totally love it! I’m in awe of the poncho sweater too! I’m learning how to sew now. I’m excited to try out new projects with thrift store finds after seeing all your transformations!

    • Jean on December 30, 2013 at 11:27 am

If you love clothes and style like we do (!) sewing is an invaluable skill. I can’t wait to see what you do. Let me know if I can help or give you any ideas. XO
