I want to paint a picture for you. Â Let’s start with the ocean. Â Envision a curving shore with rippling waves, the sun shining and breezes blowing. Â Imagine a basket full of colorful, fragrant flowers, with a scarf gently draped around the handle. Â Imagine an elegant, curvaceous woman, with honey-colored hair and a flashing smile, her exquisite layers of gauze and linen, ivory and bisque, falling gracefully around her form, while her rope-soled shoes keep her firmly on the ground.
Now open your eyes and join me as I celebrate the fabulous Tamera Beardsley. Â Her eponymous blog is a sensory experience, one which flows around you with images you can inhale and savor. Â Feel the cool weight of the beaded necklaces she designs, and hear the sound of laughter escaping on the wisps of smoke and wind as she goes “glamping” (glamor/camping) with the family she loves. Â Taste the hint of salt, not unlike the ocean’s, left behind by a tear that was shed as she navigates life.
Make no mistake, this is a real person who probably gets flustered and mad, has regrets and challenges, but nevertheless is committed to making her legacy one of beauty and love. Â As she says at the end of her posts, “Wishing you love and joy as you style your life”.
When you drop a pebble in the water, the ripples continue past recognition. Â I’m inspired and grateful to be a part of her elegant “ripple effect”. Â Thank you, Tamera. Â I wish you love and joy, as well!
The Ode Series features clothes I’ve made, inspired by some of the personal style bloggers I adore.  I recently made this top and skirt from fabric I’ve had in my stash for years.  The bag was purchased on sale at a little boutique in Denver, the espadrilles are from Cathy Jean, the cowrie shell earrings and necklaces were thrifted, and the bracelets were thrifted and gifted.  The sunflowers were a gift from Joey.  If you click on the pictures once, and then again, you’ll be able to see more detail.  Please come party with me and the rest of the lovely ladies at Patti’s and Monday Mingle. It’s Monday, after all!                                      Â
I saw Tamera immediately in this look – you’ve really captured her spirit in these photos. She is an inspiration for me too. Your skirt and top are beautiful – you are so talented. And the sunflowers Joey gave you are such great bursts of happiness.
That’s the perfect way to describe sunflowers! XXOO
Lovely dress, you are so talented!
The sunflowers are also beautiful, how lucky of you to receive such beautiful gifts
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
The weekend has been interesting, to say the least. I’ll be posting about it at a later date. As for the flowers, I’m often the grateful recipient of beautiful bouquets; Joey loves to bring me flowers! Lucky indeed.
You look amazing amazing !!!
Thank you Linda. I had fun with my Ode. I hope you’ve been able to see Tamera’s blog, the source of my inspiration for this one.
Beautifully elegant! Vix has just done a post in a white maxi dress, both of you look amazing in white, Greek goddesses the pair of you! xxxx
Greek goddess… I like that. Vix’s outfit looks so gorgeous as well.
Beautiful. Everything works. This outfit sings.
Now THAT’S a lovely compliment! Thank you.
So happy to see you back and loving the Ode to Tamera! You captured her style and her elegance, honoring her with your poetic writing. You look like you belong on a magazine cover with your flowing white layers, accented with a touch of color. Beautiful photos!
These are the first photos taken with the timer on my camera that I’ve published. You should see me scrambling to strike a relaxed pose before the timer goes off. It’s hilarious. I’m pleased, though. Now to get the tutorial on my remote!!!!!
I KNEW who your inspiration was even before I scrolled down and actually read your post. It’s true that Tamera handles neutral colors in amazing ways and I always study her photos for the blends of textures in her looks. Well done!
Terri, thank you!
Such a gorgeous dress – very “Greek Goddess”! I looked at Tamara’s blog and she does have very elegant style which you are most certainly channeling in this outfit!
It’s fun to go back and see how she’s evolved style-wise, as well.
Jean I LOVED this outfit before I read any of the post! It’s absolutely Gorgeous!!! When I read who the ode to was dedicated to you almost made me cry with your generous words and sentiment. You have such a talent with both capturing a person’s style essence with clothes and interpreting them into your own. Thank you for your beautiful post, I am truly honored. To me the biggest compliment I can be given…is that I helped inspire!
I’d been planning this ode for a long time, although I didn’t know what the outfit would look like. I just knew that your style and spirit were special. Glad you like the post.
You look so elegant and ethereal in your white creation! Love those wedges and your accessories, too! Lovely!
Your white maxi post was fabulous as well!! Perfect for summer.
Jean, you are elegant and beautiful here in your “inspired” look (and always) — and I, too, knew right away who your inspiration was! Both you and Tamera are women of taste and style. Beautifully done!
Your lace top would look great with this skirt
I totally agree with Patti! Just beautiful! Nuff said!
Appreciate it!!
Jean, I’m happy to see you, but aren’t you supposed to be resting??? Well, you sure beautiful. I’ve seen Tamera’s blog. It makes me think of a magazine.
I like how your outfit shows just enough skin to be sexy without revealing too much!
Part of Donna Karan’s genius was her celebration of the shoulder as an erogenous zone. Originally this top didn’t have the slit shoulder, but I felt it wasn’t quite interesting enough. I added that feature at the end. Glad you like it; I was happy with the way it ended up.
Elegant and fabulous!
A compliment from you, the elegant and fabulous, is always appreciated!
You look positively heavenly in all white. Thanks for showing off your great style, but also thanks for introducing an amazing person to your readers.
This is what makes blogging fun!
You look wonderfully elegant and I love that you have dedicated this post to the beautiful Tamera. Her warmth and personal style light up the blog world and inspires each one of us.
You are so right. I’m glad I found her blog.
Welcome back Jean! So this is the sewing project you’ve been working on – it’s really stunning, both the top and skirt. The fabric itself is gorgeous. I hadn’t seen the Odes before and went back to read them. What a wonderful idea and so beautifully executed. And I knew who each of the honorees were just by seeing your pictured outfit! Impressive work.
Thank you for checking them out. I love doing the Odes! If you go back to the posts Separation Anxiety, Playing Miss lady, and A Sneak Preview you’ll see a few more upcycled pieces as well.
What a stunning outfit!!
you look like you could be schmoozing with the celebrities at a Malibu cocktail party!
I’ll have a glass of Pinot Grigio, thank you!
What a fantastic dress – you look so lovely in it! I love this beach theme with shell accessories and the espadrilles. You’re a very talented lady!
Since Tamera features the ocean as a motif in many of her posts, somehow the shells felt right. I thrifted them years ago and this is the first time I’ve worn them!
I just love Tamera’s look too! I have told her that if her whole wardrobe disappears one day, it’s at my house. You have really “nailed” the look. Smashing!!
Cheers from England,
Rosemary http://www.foreveronthecatwalkoflife.com
So, as your cosmic twin, it’s my closet too, right?
This is so lovely Jean, you look amazingly gorgeous! I’m so grateful to be a part of this living the “love” group! So much fun and so much inspiration! xo

What a beautiful post in honor of Tamera. You are both inspirations.
You look lovely and that dress is gorgeous.
Thank you so much!! Isn’t it nice to be part of the “ripple effect”?
Jean, you are so elegant and beautiful. The outfit is just stunning. I loved the touch of the sunflowers in your bag. You would look fabulous in NY, LA or anywhere! You did a wonderful ode post!
