The Bag of Glasses

December 4, 2016

Once upon a time there was a woman who was sad. Why? Because she broke her glasses when she sat on them… by accident, of course.

The Glasses Man said he didn’t have any more like them, making her cry because she loved them so much.  They gave her magic powers.  She could SEE.

One day she met a young girl in a parking lot.  The girl said she had LOTS of glasses, and she wanted to give them away to someone who could appreciate them.  Maybe the woman would find a pair she liked!

But alas, the woman lost her phone number.  She walked high and low looking for the Glasses Girl because she NEEDED those glasses!!  She had a very important meeting in the Capital of Style in just a few days, and she needed all her magic powers.

As she sat despondently, her loving husband said, “Don’t give up!  Try one more time to find her.”  The woman wailed, “But even if I find her and she has glasses, I can’t get my prescription in time!!”  He responded gently, “Just try.  You never know.”

So the woman went back one more time to the place where the Glasses Girl had first appeared.  She rubbed her eyes as she crossed the parking lot, peering into the glasses shop.

She wasn’t sure, but could it be?  Could that be the girl from all those months ago?

Why, YES!!!

It was the Glasses Girl, and she had the PERFECT glasses for the woman!!!  They were even the exact size for her old lenses, so the woman had her magic powers almost instantly!!!

The woman danced with joy as she hugged her husband, thanking him for his wise words.

Not only did the Glasses Girl give the woman her magic glasses back, she gave her a pretty pink Angel bag containing MORE glasses to take back to her village.

The woman vowed to take good care of the Bag of Glasses. There were so many people to share it with, and it was an honor.  Strangely enough, as she shared it, her magic powers grew stronger.

For the rest of her days, the woman remembered the angel who gave her the Bag of Glasses, reminding her that generosity is Love in action.  The more you give, the more you have.

The End.

Details: Jeans, boots, gray poncho: consignment store markdowns.  Linen shirt: local store, on-sale. Cashmere cowl and arm warmers: upcycled from thrifted sweater.  Glasses…well, you know!!!

Indeed these glasses are perfect on you!! What a joy. Nothing so sweet as to lose and finding it again or even better. Also I agree that giving is love in action. Great story.

They’re so similar to my broken beloved ones! I had really struggled to find the perfect pair. To have their replacement given to me was truly miraculous. xo

Oh, Jean, what a marvelous story, and I’m so glad it had a happy ending! Kudos to the husband for encouraging her (you) not to give up. Look at all the glasses! I wish someone would give me a bag o’ glasses as I just had to get new ones and man, seeing things clearly does not come cheap 😉

Your magical power of story telling rings true with this post. A beautiful tale of lost and then found. I loved how gently the “woman” was embraced by her “husband” when despondent. It is no accident that the “woman” was reunited with the Glasses Girl.

You look radiant in your glasses and your incredible ensemble. The photos are wonderful and your hair is absolutely stunning. Yes, generosity is LOVE in action!

Yes. Perseverance. Funny how that works. Reminds me of the song lyrics that go “Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em”. THAT’S the challenge, I think. Sending you much love!!! So happy to see you here.
