Run it Back

As a blogger who embraces thrifting and refashioning, while trying to reduce consumption and increase creativity, I have no qualms about wearing something a gazillion times if I like it.  As I got dressed this morning, this skirt was calling out to me.  Originally created for #3 of the Ode Series which was devoted to the amazing Vix, (you can see #1 of the Ode Series here), I hadn’t worn it recently.  Today, however, it was a no-brainer.  I love this color and pattern with denim so my recently-worn jacket with crochet sleeves was next.  As far as accessories?  Well, the straw fedora was thrifted.

The shaggy leather bag is from a consignment store, license plate bracelet (Ontario!)from a local artist, cowrie shell earrings and beaded bracelets-thrifted, recycled ivory and silver ring-local artist, and other rings (?)-not sure.

Leather flip flops-Reaction Kenneth Cole (old!), and finally my lunch.  The Hmong embroidered placemat was a gift, along with a thrifted linen napkin and thrifted Thai chopsticks.  Everything tastes a little better when it’s pretty, right?

Well it’s a beautiful skirt, very Vix-esque but also very in keeping with your vibe, Jean. So I am not surprised you like wear it often. It goes so well with your refashioned denim jacket. Your shaggy bag is fabulous too! Your lunch looks delicious, but so small, did you have seconds?! xxxxxx

That’s what was left and after the pictures, I finished it!

Always admire the refashioned jean jacket. But the purse and the license plate bracelet are cool too. What is in that bowl?

    • Jean on August 23, 2012 at 10:06 pm

It was some rather mediocre food (beef and broccoli) from a Chinese restaurant, which is why I had to dress it up a little. It was okay and I did finish it off after the photo shoot, but I thought it looked pretty with my thrifted napkin and chopsticks. Photo op!

Jean, Jean, Jean! Of course you already know that I love everything!! That purse is a real stunner too. WOW!
I just about threw out a maxi skirt today (I mean donated) until I saw this post. I just yesterday cut the sleeves off of a jean jacket and now want to wear the two together because of this outfit. What a great look. If we went out anywhere together people would think we were twins!

You’ll have to post the outfit. I can’t wait to see it! I’ve done a lot of these jackets, with varying sleeves, and I love each one of them. It would be so much fun to hang out! Might have to make that happen, right? It would be so much fun to post about it.

Oh, and is that your favorite chair??

    • Jean on August 23, 2012 at 10:12 pm

I’m going to be coy and say, “Maybe…” I’d hate to reveal the answer before our “chair” post!

What wonderful shapes, colours, and textures, Jean! Absolutely bring on the gazillion wears of stuff. Your refashions are lovely, that bag is outstanding, and I just love those license plate bracelets.

I’ve been trying to keep myself in check; I’m dying to go back and get some more. Maybe I’ll do a little holiday shopping…yeah, that’s a good reason to go back!

The license plate bracelet is very clever!
Great skirt – very Missoni! I love how you’ve worn the skirt with denim – the orange sets off the blue.

I love this outfit (well, I would, wouldn’t I?) I adore that skirt and am salivating over that amazing bag…I want it!! I was looking over an amazing crochet tablecloth at yesterday’s boot sale, couldn’t for the life of me remember why I was after crochet and walked away, how stupid, I remembered why when I got home…because I wanted to make a jacket like yours!!! Finger’s crossed it’s still there next time!
    Have a fabulous weekend! xxxx

As usual, love your colour combinations and your clever accessories! Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog too! It would be great to get together at some point. Too bad there’s an ocean between us.

    Much love from England,

I’m with you about wearing pieces many times when they look as good as these do on you. And always love the addition of a hat. The shaggy leather bag is definitely a statement piece! I also love the photo of you in the chair; the color combinations are true art.

The idea of accessorizing food is something I should do more often!

    Hey Jean,

Looking cool as ever. I’m here though, to give you an award, that Liebster Award that has been making the rounds – it belongs to you, I do believe. For more info, just go to my site at http://projectminima.blogspot.com/2012/08/not-just-another-award.html

    • Jean on August 24, 2012 at 9:16 pm

Wow. I’m heading over right now! Thank you!!!

  14. Megan Mae on August 24, 2012 at 11:51 pm

Omg! That leather strips bag is incredibly cool. The skirt you have on is perfect for late summer. The meal picture looks so tasty. Food definitely tastes better when it is all prettied up. =)

(Also Re: buttonflower – all the ones in today’s post are available. If you meant the blue and brown one, then definitely so as it’s sitting here on my desk!)

Your bag is so cool! And I agree that things taste better when they’re pretty! Everything on that placemat must be delicious…

Very cute outfit. I really like how the denim vest and the hat “play” with the dress. Nice mix of styles and moods. Well done!

I like seeing my fave bloggers wearing their fave pieces again and again. It makes them seem more approachable and great style more attainable :)

    Killah bag!

Some clothes just feel like old friends. I feel that way about my Eddie Bauer denim jacket.
The shaggy leather bag is the neatest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
