AMS, otherwise known as Acute Mountain Sickness or altitude sickness, often afflicts people traveling to higher elevations.  The symptoms frequently mimic a hangover: headache, fatigue, upset stomach etc.  Drinking lots of water seems to help.  I was lucky on the first day, with only a headache to contend with.  After that, however, the story gets a little muddled.

You see, Joey was performing in Denver on New Year’s Eve.  So I’m not really sure if it was the copious amounts of wine that night or the intoxication of ushering in the new year with Judith, aka The Style Crone.

It was the perfect way to greet the upcoming year, celebrating with love and style.  So was it a hangover or AMS?  It really doesn’t matter.  I had a FABULOUS time.  Thank you Judith, Joey, and the wonderful folks in Denver!!  (Now if you’ll excuse me while I unpack and find the aspirin…)

Happy New Year!!!!

I’m wearing a thrifted and upcycled cut velvet skirt, upcycled leather “armlets”, self-made top, and a wrap that I made (the night before we left!) from fabric purchased at 75% off.

Hope your head is feeling better now, Jean! What fabulous views – mountains, Joey playing, and you and dear Judith together for new year! How very beautiful, glamourous and exciting, I’m not surprised you felt a little intoxicated!
Happy new year, darling Jean! xxxx

I was just talking about this illness or reaction this week with a friend. She was skiing and then later in the day she drank a few glasses of champagne and became violently ill. I bet it had something to do with AMS. But you know champagne. In like perfume, out like sewage! (a line from the Tom Cruise Cocktails movie).

I sure love that wrap. Looks like you two were color coordinated!! What a great way to ring in the New Year! Don’t forget to look me up if you come to Seattle. We have Jazz Alley here and I bet Joey has either played there before or will someday. We shall meet! And bring me all the jewelry you don’t want. ;)

Joey may have been the one performing but I wonder who REALLY stole the show – I’m guessing it was you and Judith. You both sparkle!! What a wonderful new year’s eve. May you be blessed with continuing creativity, love, laughter, prosperity and health in the new year, Jean.

Celebrating the New Year with you and Joey was very special for me! I was thrilled to be able to see Joey perform in the midst of an appreciative audience; the two of you are equally talented, warm, dynamic and creative. If the rest of the year is anything like the very beginning of 2013, there are remarkable days ahead.

Thank you Jean and Joey, for a New Year’s celebration to remember always!

Love your stuff and your creative ideas. You are beautiful and so inspiring. I must get back to “upcycling myself; but i fear will never be as adept as you. You are a real original and you never lose sight of elegance and restraint so that I believe you do actually wear what you show in your blog.
