Color Story

I was playing around with some ideas recently and created this look out of a tie-dye shirt Joey no longer wears and a thrifted dress.  After adding a thrifted scarf and a beautiful strip of handwoven material that Lynx gave to me on my birthday, I think I’ve got something to keep in my  “grab ‘n go” arsenal of outfits. I especially love the colors. I can envision wearing this to an event in the park with a great hat when I feel like being flowy and bohemian, which is how I usually feel!

The shirt is very long and oversized, even for Joey.  After closing the first few buttons, I pulled the bottom corners of the shirt to the back and fastened them together at the waist with a safety pin.  This created a nice fishtail shape.  I secured it with a sash and added the woven strip to give it a little more interest. Click on the pictures for more detail.

I’m looking forward to trying this with different kinds of shirts, and perhaps with trousers next time.  I love baggy pants and this might be a great way to style them, since the back view is usually pretty awful.  (There was some discussion of this at Style Montreal Sud-Est when Ariane showcased a gorgeous pair in orange.)

I’d love to see what you come up with if you try it!

Have a great rest of the weekend.  I’ll be starting my week off right with Patti and Monday Mingle.  See you there!

I wish everyone had such an exciting “grab’n’go” selection of pieces. This is a remarkable pairing and upcycle. It brings to mind a hat you had showcased in an earlier post, it’s so organic and flowy and twisting. Let’s see you IN this next!

Ooooh! I DO love this! It will look incredible on you. Having said that, I don’t think many people could carry off such a look. But on you— dynamite! Thanks for the tip about making a fish tail simply by pinning the front ends of shirt behind you at the waist. I can see that working! Want to see photos of you wearing this!!

Much love from your twin in England,

Jean, this reminds me of a fairytale, taking place in the forest, and the princess wearing it is feeling slightly boho…

“arsenal of outfits” is a crack up!

Back view is in a different place now… has a different position in life… not awful at all really, just “different”. :-)
