A Tale of Two Outfits

New year 5 ponchoNew year

I hope you’ve had a good week.  I hope you want some less than challenging things to read since you’re exhausted.  I hope you’re ready for an average look-what-I-wore-today kind of post because that’s exactly what this one is.

new year 6 poncho

Oh look!  I wore a thrifted handwoven serape with a woolen scarf.

New Year 4

Yesterday I wore my suede boots with some ikat leggings; imagine that!!

new year poncho down

Get a load of these thrifted Swedish clogs and bellbottoms!

New year 2

There’s even fringe on my thrifted Lucky sweater, see?!!

New year 3

Make sure you admire my cowl and armlets.  I made a bunch of these for gifts this year.

So there you have it, short and sweet.  I’ll see you all after the New Year festivities.  I’m looking forward to catching up with you then.  In the meantime, have a ball.  XXOO

As always, clicking on the pictures once, and then again, will enlarge them.

Please click here to admire Judith, Valerie and Jean as they cavort in NY!!  I was there in absentia since Judith wore her blue DrossintoGold armlets and cowl.  Couldn’t ask for a better model.

ALSO!!!  My apologies to Patti for neglecting to acknowledge Visible Monday.  Please join us. :-)

Swedish clogs and bell bottoms. You have stolen my 1970’s heart. LOVE!!!!

    • Jean on December 26, 2013 at 11:34 pm

Sometimes you just gotta go back to the classics, you know?

  2. Curtise on December 27, 2013 at 5:32 am

Actually, I am feeling pretty tired, since you mention it, so a calm, soothing visit to my lovely friend Jean, to admire her always stylish hippy chick chic is just what I need! Loving all the soft colours in the serape and scarf and leggings, and the clogs and bell bottoms are perfect. Hope you had a really lovely Christmas, enjoy your new year celebrations, and see you in 2014! xxxx

So far it’s been memorable. I think we realize that this time will never be duplicated so we’re trying to savor it, exhaustion and all.

  3. sandra on December 27, 2013 at 5:56 am

Armlets and cowls! love them, actually I love everything you are wearing! x x x

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:19 am

Thank you Sandra!! I really enjoyed both these outfits, different as they are from each other.

As always, lots of inspiration. I like the black with the green – that’s me. And your hair is stunningly beautiful beautiful. I wish you a happy New Year.

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:21 am

My default color is black. I love how it takes on so many different attitudes depending on the accent colors, if any.

  5. déjà pseu on December 27, 2013 at 9:30 am

That serape is magnificent! Perfect with the bell bottoms.

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:22 am

The pants don’t fit particularly well, so the serape covers all that. It truly is perfect with the bellbottoms.

  6. Louisa on December 27, 2013 at 12:07 pm

Just goes to show you – fun clothes never go out of style! Lovely as always, Jean. I especially envy your ikat jeans! And your fabulous hair, of course.

All the best to you and yours in the New Year!

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:25 am

Love to you and yours as well! I hope to be doing more sewing and maybe even crocheting or knitting in the new year!! I’d love to be weaving and dyeing too, but I don’t see that in my immediate future. I’ll come visit you for inspiration, though. :-)

  7. Beata on December 27, 2013 at 4:22 pm

I love the poncho! Such a wonderful authentic pattern, I am very jealous! Lovely look, Hugs! Beata xx

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:27 am

It’s handwoven cotton. I wish I knew more about the origin of it. Maybe I’ll try to do some research. In the meantime, I’m enjoying wearing it.

  8. PinkCheetahVintage on December 27, 2013 at 6:11 pm

    That serape!!!!

    • Jean on December 28, 2013 at 1:29 am

It always pays to hunt everywhere, right? This beauty was on the rack with all the Halloween costumes at Rag-O-Rama, a buy-sell-trade store. It cost next to nothing. Score!!

  9. Vix on December 29, 2013 at 2:09 pm

Two gorgeous looks! I love the serape (that’s a new word to me!) and the flares and clogs are just swoonsome! I probably won’t see you again till February so have a fabulous New Years and see you on the other side. Love you lots! xxx

    • Jean on December 29, 2013 at 10:34 pm

    Hi Jean!

A Happy New Year to you!
You are the queen of casual outfits – Love that poncho, bell bottom jeans and clog!

Will see in the new year

    • Jean on December 30, 2013 at 11:35 am

Ha ha!! I love that…queen of casual clothes! Thank you so much! So much of my life consists of mundane errands in very mundane suburban surroundings, plus given my general temperament, that I tend not to go over the top too often. (Of course that’s all relative) I do love beading and feathers though, along with glam shoes, so I often feel a little underwhelmed with my casual stuff. I do have fun, though, irregardless. That’s what it’s really supposed to be about, as you so wonderfully said in your post. XXOO

What a lovely mix of colors and patterns. I love particularly the scarf, paisley pattern I can never resist. You look marvellous Jean.
Have a wonderful time and all the best for you in New Year!

    • Jean on December 30, 2013 at 11:25 am

Thank you! I love the scarf too. When it’s too warm to wear it, I drape it on a chair so I can still enjoy it.

Happy New Year!! See you in 2014. XXOO

So funny Jean … like you could even do average! It may seem average to you … but it is fabulous to the rest of us! You look absolutely gorgeous my friend!

Your post comes ironically timed to me …
I have been thinking I need to show more of what I wear on a regular day … in the hopes of not only being helpful, but also upping my daily attire. I seem to actually wear so few pieces in my wardrobe … when I just want to get things done … I see an area of big improvement … and the possibility og invested in more daily joy … with outfits I am happy to put on … and still be productive.

Thank you for this lovely post! Wishing you and yours all the very best in this coming year!

    • Jean on December 30, 2013 at 11:12 am

I look forward to seeing what you’ll do with daily attire! I know I’ll love your brand of SoCal casual glam. Happy New Year to you and your’s as well. XXOO
