A Sneak Preview

The past few days have been crazy and I’m still figuring out the photo part of blogging. Which is to say, I don’t have any great outfit shots from the last few days.  Consequently, I thought I’d share  a few of my pieces that will be featured in the S/S issue of Altered Couture magazine.

To say I’m excited is an understatement.  Several years ago I purchased a copy of the magazine and discovered that one of the featured artists lives in my city.  Long story short, she’s great; we’ve taken a sewing class together and have gone thrifting together.  From the beginning she was tremendously supportive, encouraging me to submit my stuff to the magazine, and helped with getting the write-ups just so.  Her name is Pat Berryhill.  Please make sure you visit her!

You’ll be able to read about the transformation process of these pieces when the magazine comes out.  Of course, if you just can’t wait that long, send me a message and I’ll fill you in.  And again, thanks Pat!!

You make me want to get a sewing machine, too!

Jean, your refashioning is exciting, you have such an eye for the potential of fabric and no preconceived ideas about how a garment SHOULD be worn, which gives you 100 percent creative freedom, and of course you have the technical skill to pull it together so stunningly. I particularly loving your armlets (great word!), the half slip makeover into an under-layering skirt, the reverse cardigan. I look forward to seeing more of your pieces. Plus, you look fantastic modelling your clothes. See you again soon.

What a fabulous idea for a magazine. I’m going to check it out and also Pat’s site. Funny, even though I don’t use my sewing machine much, I’d feel naked and lost if I didn’t have one!

    Cheers from England,
    Rose

Jean is amazingly talented and a beautiful person inside and out. I can’t wait to see her début in Altered Couture!
