Expect the Unexpected

January 30, 2012

I never anticipated spending the last four days obsessed with raccoons.  I never anticipated finding out that one had taken up residence in our attic.  I have since learned a lot about humane traps, how far you have to go before releasing raccoons so they won’t come back “home” (about 30 miles or so), what food they can’t resist (marshmallows), when they breed (too early for babies in the attic, thank God!!).  I even learned a little about construction, like what a soffit is.  At least I think I know.

So today after the soffit repair guys left,  I finally took a breezy ride out with Joey.  Yes, I wore something I made.  The cowl-neck scarf  is made from thrifted cashmere sweaters.  I’ve made several in various colors and plan on making one or two more this week.  That is, unless something unexpected happens.  Bats in the belfry, perhaps?

How lovely your warm and snuggly scarf/wrap looks! Interestingly, I know someone here in England who makes these types of things from old cashmere sweaters and she has a good business going with it.

Nice to say good-bye to the critters too!

    Love from England,

According to some of your nephews, EVERYTHING likes marshmallows! Thank goodness it’s gone, house repaired and now you can move onto other, more interesting, adventures. Like re-designing more clothes.

oh..and I’ve had some experience with bats in a belfry and red squirrels in the bedroom ceiling. They’re no fun either.

Good bye critters & hello more styles!!!

Thank God you’re done & over w/ those pesky little things. You look surprisingly calm & poised in the wrap. I particularly love the color combination you used for the wrap. I would definitely buy it!!!!

Oh no, I hope you’ve gotten rid of the thing. Raccoons are so destructive.
