Welcome to Dross into Gold
My personal chronicle about transformation, clothing and otherwise!
Hello!
Now that I’m 62, it’s an interesting time. I love my work (voice actor) and family (a husband I truly adore, children who make my heart ache I’m so proud of them, my delightful grandson, amazing parents, siblings etc). Unfortunately, most of them are pretty far away.
I also love getting clothes from thrift stores, then reworking them into one-of-a-kind pieces. As a confirmed clothes-lover, this satisfies my desire for something new and unique to wear, and satisfies my need to create and recycle at the same time.
During the last few years, I began delving into the blogosphere. I stumbled on a few fashion sites, which led to a few more, and then more! Over the course of time I realized I was changing. I felt more confident in my own personal style as I saw incredible examples that had nothing to do with age, size, or money.
I was reminded of the fact that style can be a profound vehicle for artistic expression and community, which I believe can heal and lead to personal transformation. Hence the inspiration for this blog. Oh, and last but not least, I want to say thanks to my mom, who taught me to sew and to love words.
Welcome to my journey!
With love,
Jean
Hi Jean, I just found your site and I love it! I have been working online since 1998 and have had many blogs, but I recently decided to put my style out there and now I find that this is some kind of phenomenon! I had no idea so many were blogging personal fashion and I love it! So glad I found you, I am your newest follower.
Love to you beautiful lady!

Jean, this is wonderful and fun to learn some things about you! I even listened to some of your voice samples. Very sultry!
Sounds like your hubby is quite the saxophonist. You two make a lovely sound together! đ
Thank you so much for stopping by Jean. Very glad to have met you. You really are radiant! xoxoDanina
I’m enjoying your blog! We’re about the same age, so your fashion choices make sense for me, too. Plus, your personality seems really nice and that always attracts me to a blog. Good luck!
I will love following your blog; I found you through Visible Monday. As I turn 64 next mo I feel so strongly about style never being dictated by age, size or outward beauty – it all comes from within. Looking forward to following a new fellow blogger!
Thank you and welcome. It’s a lot of fun, isn’t it!!
Hi Jean,
It was so nice meeting you at the johns creek show yesterday. Love your blog !!

Your blog is awesome! I’m 52, love fashion, thrifting and am a black-aholic! Your ideas of restyling and upcycling are brilliant. I’m not much of a sewer, but I have a niece who I plan on putting to work very soon. Keep up the fab work!
I stumbled upon your blog/website the other day while discussing (googling) the meaning of “dross” with my husband. I really admire your blog and your ideas. I liked you on Facebook.. I hope others take to time to read your thoughts and view the photos. I just turned 62, and even though I am still handling aging well, its helpful to see how others of our kind are faring.
you are one of my favourite bloggers.love the things you do…
Jean, I’m featuring your blog this Saturday in a new, old feature, Blogs Over Easy, inspired by a comment you made.

Love your site, love your style!
Thank you!! I enjoyed visiting yours as well. Glad Melanie brought us together.
How does ONE ……..ME SUBSCRIBE To your BLOG?
Other blogs you may enjoy……..TAMERA BEARDSLEY and THE STYLE CRONE.
YOU do not LOOK 62………
I don’t currently have a way to subscribe to my blog. However, slowly but surely I’ll be up-dating the tech stuff (now my 62 is showing). I hope you’ll still come back to visit! I love seeing you here. I’m already a huge fan of The Style Crone and Tamera Beardsley, having “met” them shortly after I launched Dross over two years ago. There are many other wonderful bloggers out there, too. Enjoy!! XXOO
You have such a great style. So dramatic and original. I hope you’ll post more. I check back now and then hoping for a glimpse of your latest creation.
Leah, thank you so much!! I’m starting off 2016 with the hope of blogging more, and you’ve just encouraged me. It’s been a tough couple of years but I’m ready to catch my breath and create again. Looking forward to seeing you. XO
I love your instagram and I LOVE your blog! This is fabulous!
Hi Jean
How do I sign up to follow your lovely blog?
Hi Sarah! I wish I could tell you!! I’m so utterly clueless about it. I need to revamp/reinvent a lot of things about my blog. In the meantime, maybe bookmark it? I haven’t been posting too much because Instagram is so much easier and time effective. I miss blogging though and am aways thinking about a new post. One of these days.
Thank you for stopping by!!! xoxo
Hello,
My name is Victoria and I’m working with Twirl Dress Boutique, a dress store, located in Utah (twirldresses.com). We are focusing only on modest yet stylish clothes for absolutely different occasions.
We would like very much to place an article with a dofollow link on your website – drossintogold.com, about modest clothing, i think it might be interesting theme for your lovely readers, or we’d be happy if you could suggest us something that’ll do better for your audience.
Would it be possible?
We’ll look forward for your reply.
Thank you very much and have a great day!
Kind Regards,
Victoria
Hi Victoria!! I’m so late responding, AGH!! Please accept my apologies. In response to your question, I wouldn’t know how to do that. I can barely get these posts up and if anything changes tech-wise, I’m clueless.
I do, however, instinctively wear “modest clothing” so I can say I’m a fan, even though I think everyone should wear what makes their soul sing. I wish you the very best with your boutique!! I’m fortunate to be able to sew, but I know that’s not common these days. I suspect you will be hugely successful.
Sending love, Jean
